We own a tiny cabin on a lake in Idaho and we always look forward to getting out there to relax and because the cabin does not have television, we picked up some cheap jigsaw puzzles to take to the cabin with us. My wife and I had had a tradition of puzzles since our honeymoon, and we had encouraged our kids to enjoy them as well, so the prospect of getting some new ones for our week at the lake went over well with them.
I took a trip down to the local toy store to see if they had anything interesting on clearance, but as I rummaged through the clearance bins, I only found one child's puzzle, and all the puzzles that weren't on sale were more money than I wanted to spend. Feeling dispirited I determined that we would just have to use our old puzzles and games from previous years.
When I got back home, I told my wife the sad news, but I was surprised that she didn't seem upset about it, but just smiled and said not to worry. I figured that I had done all I could and set about getting ready for the trip by checking that the boat had all of the lifejackets and that all of our old puzzles were safely packed. While I was doing this, my wife came in the room with a smile on her face, but didn't say anything to me about where she had been or what she was doing.
The week before our vacation went by fast, as we were all busy with last minute preparations and feeling eager about getting away. The day before we were supposed to leave, I heard the doorbell and was shocked to find a package waiting on my doorstep. I asked my wife if she knew anything about this package, and she excitedly told me that she had gone online and found some fantastic cheap jigsaw puzzles, so she ordered them for our trip.
We decided to wait until we got to the cabin to show the kids that we had actually gotten some new puzzles, and they were completely delighted. My wife had ordered some horse puzzles that the children were eager about, and the lion puzzles she ordered turned out to be a huge hit. She also ordered some 3D jigsaw puzzles which were a new thing for us, and we had a ball working together to try and figure it out, and most importantly, we just loved spending time together as a family.
