Use Pomodoro Technique For More Output And Better Results

The pomodoro technique has become quite popular since its development around the 1980's. Pomodoro which is an Italian word that means tomato is basically a skill used in time management. It provides workers with creative freshness and maximum focus to complete tasks quickly and with minimal mental fatigue.

If you follow the fundamental stages carefully, this technique is very simple. These stages are visualizing, tracking, recording, processing and planning. The planning stage requires drawing of a to-do list listing all tasks. This is to enable you determine how much effort each project requires.

The skill requires you to budget time for each project into intervals of twenty five minutes. When you complete a work period, you are entitle to a break of 5 minutes. Each of these 25 minute work periods are known as pomodoros. After completing 4 pomodoros, you could give yourself 15 to 30 minutes break.

It is advisable that you mark your progress with an X after every task. Note also procrastination time and time taken to switch to the next task. When interrupted during a task, it automatically affects the other activities and therefore one can choose to postpone the activity or abandon the task.

This skill reduces the impact of external and internal interruptions on focus and flow. Taking a low technical approach is better using a pen, paper and mechanical timer. It is believed that when the user winds up the timer, it signifies his determination to complete the task and the ticking of the timer motivates the user to complete the work in time.

pomodoro technique has proven to be an effective method when used in work or studies. This is because it helps you complete projects faster as it forces you to adhere to strict timing thus minimizing procrastination time. It is a great skill since one can do all the tasks for the day and still have a fresh and focused mind.
