How To Get An Event Moving With The Right Party Music Playlists

By Laura Gallagher

Creating fantastic energy at an event using party music playlists demands a little talent and thought. One needs to consider how guests feel just after they arrive and how they typically respond later on. A mix of tracks can make or break an event, and will mean the difference between ending the night at 10 and chasing the stragglers home at 4am.

When people arrive, they need a little time to settle in. They need to become comfortable in their surroundings and get to know the people they're with. It's pointless to begin the evening with a bunch of loud, thumping dance tracks.

Instead, begin with something a little more laid back and slow. It does no good to begin with a series of depressing ballads either. They'll soon feel too relaxed and down to even dream of getting involved in the swing of things.

Many will feel tempted to take the opportunity to play friends their edgy new tracks. This is hardly ever a good idea. Try to stick to tunes people know, or styles that are current and well known. The golden oldies have enormous power to please a crowd, so always add some to the list. Even the most glib crowd will be up dancing in no time.

Only professional deejays know how to place very differently paced songs next to one another. The average amateur needs to adjust his ambition and work instead at creating transitions that are smooth. Tracks following each other should compliment one another.

Stay away from dead silence in between tunes. Using an iPod helps with this because it allows one to blend the tunes into each other. They're also great in that the host can prepare Party Music Playlists before the event and concentrate on socializing on the night itself. When these things are all considered, guests are unlikely to leave early and the event should live on in many memories.
